Top Coastal Destination for National Beach Day
08.27.20
There’s no better place than the beach for exercise, water play, and socially distanced picnics. Here are some top coastal destinations -- from Malibu to San Diego, to get outdoors and enjoy the ocean breeze on National Beach Day on Sunday, August 30.
Malibu Country Mart in Malibu
Malibu Country Mart, California's premier, open-air destination for high-end shopping with a relaxed approach, feels more like a beachside oasis than a shopping center. Located where the mountains meet the sea, Malibu Country Mart is the perfect stop along PCH to grab all the fixings for a day at the beach considering it is home to countless luxury boutiques, health and wellness shops, and restaurants, all attracting the affluent beach set. Pack your own to-go picnic basket from various restaurant shops such as a hearty smoothie from SunLife Organics, greek fare from Taverna Tony or California cuisine from John's Garden (think: pesto infused sandwiches with chip packs) and you'll be fully equipped to catch a socially-distanced spot on one of Malibu’s world-famous beaches.
Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point
Monarch Beach Resort, the AAA five-diamond beachfront resort nestled along the coast of Dana Point introduces guests to a reimagined destination experience steeped in the relaxed sun-splashed sophistication of coastal Orange County, making it the perfect spot to celebrate National Beach Day. Get outdoors and enjoy ocean-air seaside experiences (think: beach yoga, coastal barre, spin with a view) or escape to the fully renovated Monarch Bay Beach Club that features a beachside bar, a restaurant with local, sustainably-caught seafood and fresh California cuisine and ocean adventures.
Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach
Find pure bliss at Surf & Sand Resort, which sits right on Laguna Beach's shoreline, elevated over where the waves of the Pacific meet 500 feet of pristine white sand. A leader in coastal luxury, Surf & Sand is walking distance to boutique shopping, fine art galleries, hiking, and more. Satisfying all of your SoCal getaway needs, the resort offers fresh coastal fare at the signature restaurant, Splashes; refreshing spa treatments at Aquaterra Spa; oceanfront pool; complimentary beachfront fitness; and best of all, the serene sounds of California’s coast. All rooms have an ocean view and private balcony, with many guests leaving their balcony door open to drift off to sleep with the sounds of the waves washing ashore.
Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego
Located on the Gaslamp Quarter’s waterfront, the Manchester Grand Hyatt overlooks the San Diego Bay with a vast majority of rooms offering spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. The urban resort is located just minutes away from the famed San Diego beaches of Coronado and La Jolla. With endless available beachside activities, each guest visit includes bike and paddleboard rentals along with a one-hour harbor tour in the destination fee. When guests aren’t surfing, swimming, or lounging at the spectacular San Diego beaches, they can enjoy the best waterside views in the city at Top of the Hyatt – where floor-to-ceiling windows offer dramatic panoramic views of the city below, Coronado Island and the surrounding sea.
Hotel del Coronado in San Diego
Set on one of America’s most iconic beaches, the legendary Hotel del Coronado has welcomed discerning travelers for over 130 years to experience the Southern California coastal lifestyle at its best. Here, the magic and nostalgia of the property’s storied past blends seamlessly with contemporary luxury in an ocean view and beachfront guest rooms throughout the property including renovated suites in The Cabanas 'neighborhood’ that feature a driftwood-inspired backdrop with sunburst accents and bespoke nautical furnishings that speak to the timelessness of a seaside escape; expanded guest room bathrooms with double-door entry bring a sense of serenity with blue-gray color tones and etched glass inset panels for a spa-like feel, and private ocean view patios and poolside terraces for stunning SoCal views.
