LATIN DIVA LIVENS UP BACK BAY BISTRO’S JAZZ SERIES

International star, singer and pianist Julia Vari who has performed at Mexico City’s National Auditorium, the Harlem Jazz Club in Barcelona, Spain and, locally, at Jazz on Vine in Los Angeles will liven up Back Bay Bistro’s Jazz Series tonight.
Dinner will be served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the concert from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The performance is the latest in the restaurant’s ongoing jazz series that features top performers in the genre.
Dinner tickets are $40 each, include a 3-course dinner featuring a starter course followed by either fresh seasonal seafood or filet mignon then capped off with a signature dessert.
Show-only tickets are $20 and $10 for students. Among the numbers she will perform is a jazz version of “Cruela de vil,” a swing-fusion adaptation of the classic Disney song from “101 Dalmatians.”
The restaurant serves dinner Tuesdays -Sundays from 5:30 p.m. - close, lunch Tues-Fri starting at 11 a.m. and brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Evening of Dance Tour de Force III

Dance enthusiasts will be blown away with a one-night-only star-studded evening of dance: Tour de Force III on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall. The incomparable performance will be the first event to celebrate 30 years of Segerstrom Center’s artistic programming. It will highlight the greatest ballet companies and the world’s most celebrated dancers.
Tour de Force III produced in collaboration with Ardani Artists, the program will also include: Clay by Vladimir Varnava and Tristesse by Marcelo Gomes. In addition to Osipova and Polunin in Silent Echo and Stepin in Le Divertissement du Roi, the international casts include Joaquin de Luz, Marcelo Gomes, Denis Matvienko and Friedemann Vogel, as well as members of the The Royal Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada.
