Khan Saab Donates To Support Humanitarian Crises

01.07.22

To kick off 2022 in a meaningful way, and amid the ongoing humanitarian crises in Afghanistan following the Taliban’s seizure of power in August, Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen in Downtown Fullerton is committing 5% of sales made every Thursday during the month of January to local relief efforts.

Funds will be donated directly to Afghan locals who are leading informal operations to provide assistance to those facing insurmountable challenges and insecurities. By donating directly to local volunteers rather than established organizations, Khan Saab’s aim is to eliminate the misappropriation of funds, ensuring the aid goes directly to those who need it most.

Executive Chef and Founder of Khan Saab, Imran “Ali” Mookhi, is a Pakistani immigrant who leads a team of individuals, some of whom are from Afghanistan, who are collectively taking a stand in supporting those harmfully affected in the nation.

Founded on a mission of introducing Western diners to the eloquent and rich cultures of Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan, Khan Saab is a pillar in the Southern California community for those from the region and beyond who do not see American representations of the elevated cuisine that exists in Desi culture.

Diners can visit Khan Saab on Thursdays from 4 p.m. - 11 p.m. at 229 E. Commonwealth Avenue to take part in the charitable initiative now until January 27.
