Steel Magnolias’ Five Alarm Fundraiser on July 31
06.27.22
Steel Magnolias, an all-volunteer Long Beach-based organization, will host its annual Signature Event, Five-Alarm Fundraiser, on July 31 from 5-8 p.m. at the Los Angeles County Fire Museum in downtown Bellflower. Tickets are $125 per person ($1000 for a table of 8) or $175 for a VIP ticket ($1400 for a table of 8) which includes a pre-event hosted cocktail hour from 4-5 p.m. and other privileges. The dress is strictly Sunday Funday casual. Tickets and tables are on sale now at thesteelmagnolias.org.
Steel Magnolias Five-Alarm Fundraiser promises to sizzle with guest bartenders, including Bob Goen, former co-host of Entertainment Tonight; Jeff Severson, former NFL player; and Susie Atwood, Olympian, and local businesswoman. VIP guests will enjoy a special 60-minute alfresco cocktail party, early access to the Los Angeles County Fire Museum exhibits featuring a static display of vintage fire trucks and emergency vehicles, opportunities to bid on VIP-only auction items, preferred parking, and more. Doors open for general ticket holders at 5 p.m. The silent auction will close at 6 p.m. Dinner and live auction, hosted by celebrity auctioneer Zack Krone, will begin at 6 p.m. upstairs at The Mayne Event Center. All guests will have an opportunity to bid on live and silent auction items featuring an abundance of travel and lifestyle experiences.
Since its inception in 1999, Steel Magnolias has raised roughly $6 million for the Stramski Children’s Developmental Center at Children’s and Women’s Hospital, which serves children with behavior and development challenges such as autism and Fragile X Syndrome. The center is located on the campus of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center but serves children throughout Southern California. Because Steel Magnolias has no paid staff or brick-and-mortar offices, nearly all proceeds raised from the Five-Alarm Fundraiser will benefit the cause.
Steel Magnolias Five-Alarm Fundraiser, the organization’s annual Signature Event, takes place on Sunday, July 31 from 5-8pm at the Los Angeles County Fire Museum located at 16400 Bellflower Blvd in Bellflower on the ground level at the Mayne Event Center. VIP tickets are $175 per person or a table of eight for $1400 and general admission is $125 per person or a table of eight for $1000.
Tickets are all-inclusive and may be purchased online thesteelmagnolias.org or via telephone at 562.331.8007. For more information, please visit thesteelmagnolias.org.

Bello by Sandro Nardone is excited to welcome one of Paso Robles' most exciting and celebrated winemakers. Edgar Torres of Bodega de Edgar will host a one-night-only dinner on Thursday, July 14 at 6 p.m. One of Forbes’ three “must visit” wineries on the West side, BdE's recent scores from Wine Enthusiast range from 91-94. Wine Advocate has also scored Edgar’s wines in the 90-94 point range.
Guests will enjoy five courses expertly paired with BdE’s wines, as well as have the chance to meet Torres and hear a bit about the wines and his winemaking process.
Born in Michoacan, Mexico, Torres emigrated to San Luis Obispo County at the age of eight. He began his career in local restaurants, eventually transitioning to the wine industry as his passion grew. Today, Torres’ Bodega de Edgar has a 3,000 case production focused on 100% Spanish varietals as well as several unique blends. The winery focuses on producing wine as naturally as possible using the highest quality fruit.
Tickets are limited and will sell out.
