People’s Choice Food Awards

Week One of Voting for the Golden Foodies, People's Choice Food Awards ends at 11 p.m. tonight! Vote now at Golden Foodie Awards for best Cocktails, Bartender of the Year, Best Talk Radio Show, Best Food Writer, Best Sushi, Best Dessert, and Best Service Award.

The second week’s categories (Saturday, Aug. 8- Friday, Aug. 14) will be Best Indian, Best Mexican, Best Italian, Best French Cuisine, Best Asian, Best Mediterranean; and Best Vegetarian will be up for votes.

The three-week voting season will culminate with the Golden Foodie Awards gala affair at the Fairmont Newport Beach filled with guests indulging in scrumptious bites, libations and delicious desserts.

Classic Movie Wednesday

Every Wednesday, for one showing only, the Regency Theatre at South Coast Village hosts Classic Movie Night. Previously I had seen titles such as, “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” and “Pulp Fiction” that had grabbed my attention, so naturally, when I saw “Raging Bull,” I decided to finally experience Classic Movie Wednesday for myself.

For $8 a ticket, you get to experience an old classics on the silver screen. For some, it will prompt feelings of nostalgia, and for others who have only seen their favorite movies at home on the couch, it will bring excitement to see an old favorite in a way you’ve never seen it before.

Before the movie started, the manager gave the audience some tidbits and fun facts to introduce the movie which created a very intimate feeling despite the large theater I was sitting in. After the showing, the theatre staff wish you good night and offer a piece of candy as you leave.
