Low Water Solutions at Roger’s Gardens

Now that Governor Brown declared a mandatory 25% water conservation for California, many are wondering how that will also impact their gardens. Roger’s Gardens in Newport Beach is here to the rescue to help provide solutions to using less water while still having beautiful gardens.
Roger’s is a leader on removing lawns, improving irrigation system, replacing thirsty plants with Cal Friendly low water plants, they also offer a multi-faceted public water education program, and much more. Nearly ten years ago, Roger’s landscape was converted to low-water California Friendly plants and converted to weather sensitive SMART irrigation methods, low-volume spray heads, zero-runoff irrigation and much more.
You can become involved and also enter to win the 8th annual California Friendly Gardening Solutions Contest to show off your California Friendly garden. A California Friendly garden features smart and sustainable landscaping. It is designed in harmony with the surrounding environment using beautiful less-than-thirsty plants, state of the art irrigation control, and precision sprinkler heads.
The California Friendly Garden Contest celebrates and rewards these outstanding gardens with cash prizes and other awards. The first place winner will receive $1500. The contest runs through May 22. Details on how to enter are here.

Easter aboard the Queen Mary

You can spend Easter Sunday aboard the Queen Mary with fun activities and brunch for the whole family.
The Queen Mary’s award-winning Champagne Sunday Brunch served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will feature an enhanced holiday menu accompanied by a festive candy and dessert bar. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for a special family photo-op.
You can enjoy complimentary an afternoon on the picturesque Verandah Deck that includes a prize-filled Easter Egg Hunt, Easter animal petting zoo, face painting station and traditional backyard games.
There will be more that one thousand Easter eggs filled with Easter surprises hidden on the ship's Promenade and Sun decks. Ten eggs will contain a "golden ticket", redeemable for a special Queen Mary Easter Basket.
