Where to buy casual wear and athletic wear that can easily transition from the gym to lunch? Poppie’s Boutique, just opened at Mercantile West in Ladera Ranch, and it specializes in flattering, and easy everyday wear.

Poppie’s carries contemporary brands such as Kut from Cloth, Flying Monkey, Free People, Beyond Yoga and others.

Owned by Jill Rose, an area resident for 25 years, her mother-in-law, Susanne Rose, and sister-in-law Kathleen. The name, Poppies was chosen in honor of Jill’s father-in-law, Tom Rose, whose grandchildren all called him, “Poppy.”

Open 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At the special valentine inspired class you will be making: smoked salmon on toast points with dill crème fraiche; grilled prawn and baby spinach salad with toasted almonds and pomegranate vinaigrette; beef tenderloin with roasted red peppers and tarragon peppercorn sauce; twice baked potatoes with chives crème fraiche; and fresh strawberry and chocolate mousse tart.
