ENC Spring Faire & Butterfly House Opening

Join the fun at the Environmental Nature Center’s 11th Annual Spring Faire and Butterfly House opening on Sunday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—it’s OC’s only butterfly house! You can savor the OC with delicious food from local restaurants like Damasq Cafe, Rita’s Ice Custard Happiness, Kean Coffee, Sensitive Sweets, Pie-Not, Paige’s Cake Pops, Jan’s Health Bar, and the Alley. 

There will be a youth art exhibit, native plants for sale that attract butterflies and birds to your own yard.  Kids can try face painting or henna tattoos, play nature games, and see a live bird of prey presentation with owls and hawks from the OC Bird of Prey Center.  And, you can get a massage from the folks at Greet the Day. You can purchase a re-usable ENC canvas bag for $5 – your “ticket” to make crafts.

Golden Chef Series May 21 at Irvine Spectrum

The next Golden Chef Series—al fresco chef demos---from the Golden Foodies leading up to the 2016 Golden Foodie Awards on Sept. 25 at Fairmont Newport Beach, is coming up on Saturday, May 21 at 2 p.m. at the Irvine Spectrum near the Big Wheel. 

The series hosted by Wing Lam of Wahoo's, features Irvine Spectrum chefs and eateries demonstrating how to prepare their signature dishes. They will be cooking on world-class kitchens by Fisher & Paykel and DCS.

Guests can enjoy a VIP seat to watch the experience for $25 per person with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Golden Rule Charity. Seating is limited to just 40 seats, however these demos encourage everyone to join as there is plenty of space. There will be TV screens and high top tables for all guests to enjoy the demos as well as fresh fruit provided by Melissa’s Produce free of charge.
