Behind the Scenes With a Broadway Musical Star

Want to know what it takes to be a Broadway musical star? Musical Theatre Orange County presents Master Class with Melissa Mitchell on Friday, Nov. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. It’s a fun, intimate opportunity to learn more about a career in musical theatre for anyone 12 and over. 

In this master class, you will learn about Melissa's personal journey from Anaheim to Broadway, work on material from Les Miserables, and have an in-depth question and answer session, where students can feel free to ask anything from audition advice to what it's like to live in NYC and work on Broadway, and anything in between!

Taste of Math

Join the inaugural Taste of Math and a sneak peek of MIND’s Math Fair on Friday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. Sip and savor your way through culinary delights and mathematical wonders as they honor champions of education, celebrate community leaders, and thank the friends and partners who have helped make their mission a reality for over one million children.

The evening will feature best-selling author and mathematician, Dr. Eugenia Cheng, who will entertain guests by introducing mathematics as powered by cooking. And chefs from Campbell Soup Company will be on hand to demonstrate cooking through the lens of food ratios.

Culinary partners include Villa Roma, Tacos & Co, Fuddruckers, The Dirty Cookie, Cielito Lindo, Le Petite Spoon, Crazy Rock’n Sushi, Mother’s Market & Kitchen, Campbell Soup Company, Zapien’s Salsa Grill & Taqueria, Spectra, Citizen Kitchen, SubZero, Cress Restaurant, High School Inc. and Pizzeria Mozza.

Guests will enjoy an exclusive preview of the Math Fair exhibits, which will be open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Activities include Math Mystery Theater performances that integrate audience participation and technology to problem-solve, 3D printed mathematical curiosities, a laser game that lets players use mirrors to discover symmetry and angles, and much more.

The reception starts at 6:30 p.m. with Eugenia Cheng demonstrations at 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and the program at 7:30 p.m. The chef’s panel will begin at 8:15 p.m.
