Irvine oncologist Dr. Kenneth Tokita formed the non-profit Parnassus Society, dedicated to supporting and promoting the development of professional artists (classical music) and promising young artists. They hold competitions for young artists and showcase them, and professionals, at excellent public concerts, at affordable prices. The next Parnassus Society event is coming up on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Soka Performing Arts Center.
Enjoy an evening of beautiful classical music at Soka Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. performed by Orange County’s own diva mezzo-soprano Milena Kitic in her signature role. Also featuring critically acclaimed violinist Emily Uematsu in the monumental Tchaikovsky Concerto. Leading the Parnassus Chamber Orchestra is Stephen Karr, co-founder and music director of Pacific Opera Project in Los Angeles.

Pacific Symphony Plays Mozart & Brahms with Simone Porter At Soka Performing ARTS CENTER

Acclaimed violinist Simone Porter joins Carl St.Clair for a festive work by Mozart and Brahms’ only violin concerto on Sunday, November 17, at 3 p.m. at the Soka Performing Arts Center – Concert Hall in Aliso Viejo.
In the past few years Simone Porter has debuted with the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic; and with a number of renowned conductors, including Gustavo Dudamel, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Stéphane Denève, Nicholas McGegan, Ludovic Morlot, and Donald Runnicles. The program includes MOZART Overture to Marriage of Figaro and BRAHMS Violin Concerto in D Major, Op.77.
