Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens celebrates Lunar New Year with upcoming events beginning Saturday, Jan. 29 in traditional and contemporary Chinese arts and culture featuring a concert for children, a free community day, site-specific Chinese dance and drumming, and headliner Bei Bei playing Chinese Zither. All concerts and performances take place in Casa Romantica’s beautiful Main Salon.
Casa Kids Concert: Pacific Trio Music of China
January 29, at 12 PM | General $5; children under 13, Casa Romantica members, and active duty military free
Pacific Trio presents a lively, touching, and exciting performance of traditional music from China using the zither, pipa, dizi, er-hu, and several other authentic instruments.
Yoder Family Sundays: Celebration of Lunar New Year
Sunday, February 6 from 10 AM-2 PM | Performance at 11 AM | FREE and open to the public
Casa Romantica’s monthly free community event includes a performance by Southern Wind Lion Dance, crafts, and activities celebrating the traditions of Lunar New Year of all countries and cultures. Lucky red envelopes will be given out to the first 100 attendees, and some envelopes have prizes!
Casa Classic Bei Bei: Chinese Zither
Thursday, February 10, at 7 PM | General $25; Casa Romantica Members $20
An evening of classical Chinese zither played by one of the world’s premiere guzheng musicians. Since making her debut in 2006, She has been prominently featured on Disney soundtracks, performed with global stars such as Christina Aguilera, and released several critically acclaimed original albums.
Casa Vibes Bei Bei: Year of the Funky
Friday, February 11, at 7 PM | Cover charge $12
Bei Bei performs a decidedly contemporary concert with pop/funk original zither skills in a unique way. Bei Bei’s music can be heard in the live-action adaptation of Disney’s Mulan (2021) and the upcoming Pixar film Turning Red (2022).
Casa Kinetic: Dance Impressions Productions & STC Foundation
Thursday, February 17, at 7 PM | General $25; Casa Romantica Members $20
Description: Dance Impressions & STC Foundation shares Chinese culture through traditional performing arts. Guests will enjoy classical Chinese dance and drumming in Casa Romantica’s Main Salon with a reception to meet the cast after the performance.

Woman-Owned Grease Monkey Celebrates Grand Opening in Garden Grove

Grease Monkey celebrated its 700th store opening today in Garden Grove on the corner of Chapman Ave. and Knott St. To celebrate their milestone, Grease Monkey is donating $2,500 to Bracken’s Kitchen as sponsorship to feed 700 people in need. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was celebrated with woman-owned franchisee Dana Leitner and local dignitaries.
Grease Monkey is the nation’s largest independent franchisor of automotive oil change centers serving more than 2 million customers each year.
Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
