Sherman Library & Gardens invites you to an evening lecture featuring Nelson Coates, a distinguished production designer for film and television, on Tuesday, April 16th at 7 p.m. This event will shine a light on the significant role of plants and gardens in film, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of set designs for acclaimed TV shows such as The Morning Show, and blockbuster movies like "Crazy Rich Asians" and "In the Heights." Don't miss this opportunity to gain unique insights into nature and narrative in cinematic storytelling.
Outside the realm of screen, Coates, who resides in Laguna Beach, also brings his visionary skills to architecture and interior design, contributing to distinctive residential and commercial projects. A vital member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Designer Branch Executive Committee and the Television Academy, Nelson also imparts his knowledge globally, serves on the Board of Trustees for Laguna College of Art + Design, and is the International President of the Art Directors Guild for his third term.
