The Market by The Meat Cellar, a family-run venture by Anthony and Sara Villegas, is set to open this November at the River Street Marketplace in San Juan Capistrano. This full-service steakhouse, butcher shop, and retail space will offer a unique dining experience.
Originally, opened in Claremont in 2016, The Meat Cellar became a local favorite with its hybrid concept of a butcher shop and scratch kitchen. In 2017, it expanded into a historic 4,000-square-foot building, solidifying its community presence.
At River Street Marketplace, the new 4,000-square-foot location will include a 2,000-square-foot patio. Guests will be welcomed by a butcher counter featuring premium meats like dry-aged ribeye, Wagyu, and New York steaks from top purveyors, as well as artisan cheeses and sustainable seafood.
Anthony’s culinary skills shape the menu, while Sara’s vision brings an expanded retail section, curated by Anthony’s sister Sonya Kelsen, owner of Colony Wine Merchant in Anaheim. This section offers sustainable, small-batch products, including wines, homeware, and specialty foods.
The dining area will feature an oyster bar and in-house dry-aged meats, with a menu focused on clean, additive-free ingredients. Highlights include Wagyu Tomahawks and fresh seafood, all seasoned with their signature spice blend.
The Market by The Meat Cellar will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and until 10:00 p.m. on weekends. Guests can enjoy grab-and-go, dine-in, and take-out options. For more information, orders, or reservations, visit TheMeatCellar.com.
The Market by The Meat Cellar is at River Street Marketplace, 31864 Paseo Adelanto, Suite 105 in San Juan Capistrano.
